Warm table, cool planet
Victoria Haysom
Want to keep warm on a cool night without blowing out your heating costs? Try a kotatsu heating table and snuggle up to a smaller heating bill.
A Japanese invention, kotatsu tables use an electric heater on the underside of a table that has a blanket is attached all the way around. This keeps heat trapped beneath the table (and around your legs), meaning you don’t have to heat an entire room to keep the whole team warm. Goodbye to constantly closing doors and closing curtains to keep the heat in.
Obviously cutting down on your power use is good for your budget – but it’s also a great way to reduce the country’s reliance on fossil fuels – on cold evenings gas-fired power stations in New Zealand fire up to meet peak electricity demand, so using a kotatsu table to stay warm is a cosy way to keep the planet cool.
The tables are available for purchase here.
