The Auckland War Memorial Museum expects to spend 35 per cent less on electricity and gas in 2013
Auckland War Memorial Museum is looking after the future as well as our past by cutting its carbon emissions.

The museum announced a 31 per cent reduction in CO2 released over the last two years and thanks to these efforts can now look forward to savings on its energy bills, too.

The museum expects to spend 35 per cent less on electricity and gas in 2013 compared to what was spent in its benchmark year of 2010, which equates to a saving of $340,000 this year.

The reduction in CO2 was achieved by reducing natural gas consumption by 49 per cent, electricity consumption by 17 per cent and air travel and waste carbon emissions by 22 per cent.
