Beavers roam England again
Green Ideas editorial team
Wild beavers have mysteriously returned to England after being hunted to extinction 300 years ago.
A family of the animals has been filmed playing and building dams on a river in Devon. Wildlife officers are at a loss to explain their appearance, and believe they may have been deliberately released from surviving groups outside the UK.
There have been calls to reintroduce the European beaver to England after the recent catastrophic storms, as they are believed to control flooding by damming rivers.
