How to make finger paint for kids
Greg Roughan - Green Ideas editor
Finger painting is great fun – kids love getting messy, and it’s a good non-screen distraction for half an hour or so!
Here’s an easy recipe for making your own, with simple ingredients from the kitchen cupboard.
You’ll need
- flour
- sugar
- salt
- food colorings
- some spare jars or cups – old baby food jars are ideal
Step 1
Put 2 tablespoons of sugar into a saucepan.
Step 2
Add 1/3 cup of flour to the saucepan.
Step 3
Mix in 2 cups of water and whisk until smooth. Turn on the heat and stir continually until the mixture thickens.
Step 4
Pour into your jars or cups equally. You'll need one cup for every colour of paint you'd like to make.
Step 5
Mix in a couple of drops of food colouring and stir until completely dissolved. Let cool completely before allowing your little toddler to stick their fingers in and get dirty!
