Keeping bees in an urban garden... good idea??Reader submitted

I've been considering adding a beehive to our garden so have been doing a little research on the subject. I found a great site called Beezthingz with lots of information and you can buy or rent bee hives!!

I'm wondering if a bee hive is something I could add to a large urban garden easily?

Yes, you should get a beehive! We have a hive in our back garden and it is great. I've got lots of bee-friendly plants, eg. borage and it is neat to see them work the vege garden. They are soothing to watch too as they fly in and out of the hive. Plus you get honey! We own our hive, but if you can rent it would be a good way to trial if it will work for you.

We have a hive in our orchard, a local bee keeper looks after the hive and we get some of the honey. Have had a little taste very rich!
