Recycling, packaging and waste
The phone you keep forever
Greg Roughan - Green Ideas editor
So-called e-waste is a growing problem – but where there’s a problem, there’s a smart green entrepreneur with a solution…
Check out www.phonebloks.com – the home of ‘the phone worth keeping’. It’s a project started by a smart chap called Dave Hakkens – and now supported by Motorola and Google – to develop a modular phone that can be continuously upgraded when one part wears out, without throwing the whole unit away.
The plan is to develop the project in the open, by creating a community of early users who tell the developers exactly what kind of renewable phone they want.
So by signing up to the project (for free) you can help create the phone of the future. Go on, we know you want to.
