Do you have a boggy spot
Creating a wetland can be easier than it seems

Do you have a boggy spot on your property you don’t know what to do with? Why not turn it into a wetland? It may not be as difficult as you think. And it will hold water and prevent flooding, filter pollutants, attract wildlife and at the same time give you something beautiful to look at.

For anyone wanting to learn more about wetlands, how to create, restore or maintain one of these delightfully watery places, then the Wetlands Symposium 2014 (12-14 February) at Unitec, Auckland is a must-attend event.

With a strong emphasis on the practicalities of restoring wetlands, it offers workshops on wetland monitoring and safe pesticide use, as well as such topics as coping with weather extremes when restoring wetlands, methods for wetland protection, and aquatic weed and pest control.
